General facilities and services available

The whole premise of the RMBI is to create a home rather than an ‘institutional style’ environment, both inside and out. Shannon Court can accommodate 53 residents, offering residential and dementia care. All rooms are single occupancy with
ensuite facilities and are centrally heated, with TV and telephone points.
On each corridor there are bath/shower facilities especially adapted for safe usage so that residents maintain their independence in a safe environment. Kitchenettes are available where residents can make drinks and snacks for themselves or their visitors.
There are two special Dementia Support Units, the Alvernia Wing and the Ronald Davis Wing, catering for residents with dementia.
The Alvernia Wing is set in its own enclosed gardens and each Wing has its own lounge, dining room, kitchen and bath/shower facilities.
Shannon Court offers a wide range of recreational facilities including a well stocked library with a full range of books to suit many needs. A full programme of activities is organised by our Activities Co-ordinators and includes bingo, quizzes and day trips to various places of interest. Entertainers also visit regularly for shows and concerts.
The Home has its own hairdressing salon where residents can enjoy haircuts and pampering from a professional hairdresser.
