The Smarties way to raise money
The brethren of Claremont Lodge were a little puzzled when they arrived at the festive board after their last meeting to find a tube of Smarties standing on each of their place settings.
They were a Christmas gift from W.Bro Terry Peck, the Lodge’s inventive Charity Steward. All he asked was that they, “Enjoy the chocolates over the festive period and return the tube at the next meeting full of 20p pieces.”
This was met by fraternal giggles and a retort by another Lodge member, who just happens to be on the Surrey 2019 Festival committee, saying, “£1 coins would do equally as well.”
What a clever and comical way to collect, how sweet!
